[the Last of the Dashkin]

seemed undone...

following your stuff for a long time now and the quality of this one just seemed rushed. Waterlollies was phenomenal and this is a step back. Animation was a little choppy in spots and not as cleaned up. Not saying your work here is bad at all, it's great by most standards. Just saying it's got the feel that you hurried to get it out...being just a teaser and all. Look forward to seeing the full flick. Thanks.

That's my thoughts exactly...

I don't get why if you gave the stick figures facial expressions, voices, beards, personalities, etc...and put so much effort into this flash (and yes i do recognize that), why didn't you just go the little bit extra and make them "fullbody" as you put it. Okay, it's a style thing? I can roll with that too, but I say then that the style doesn't fit the whole. Your backgrounds and even props in this animation are not keeping with the style of the stick figures. I agree with the guy below me that it makes the whole thing look "wrong." I'm not altogether against stick figures...just think that a style should be kept throughout the entire film.

Animation-wise, good job. It was slow and realistic. You have potential to make something great with your attention to detail (aside from the obvious sticks). Sound and music were all good choices.

I'd just like to see something you do to give more merit is all. Had you fleshed out the characters, this would have been awesome and, more importantly, made it your own. Instead of just taking a different spin on rehashed style. I suggest creating your own style. Thanks for submitting.

Hmmm.... That little bit extra you're talking about is beyond my abilities atm. I have never animated fullbody and can barely draw a person as it is so this is my limit in terms of character design for now. The response from this has opted me to start with fullbody tests but it will be a while before I can make anything decent. I reckon people are thinking less of me because I acted lazy and used stick figures but really, that is all I can do :( ..... for now.

I'll give you 6/10 for your style and animation. Good attention paid to the mouth movements. Your pace however was bad. You could have easily done this in one episode. It would have flowed better.

...where's the rest of the fight? it could have stood fine at this length if there was more to it. Instead, you just built up to nothing when you cut it off. Let down, man.

i read most of the bad reviews...

and wanted to address the issue that people are saying your flash was an overused topic. I just don't see how that should be a point for someone to trash-talk. How many times do people keep making stick figure fight cartoons or nintendo and sonic parodies on this site?!? Just because someone has a different take on a concept or even someone who flat out reanimates something they thought could be better doesn't make them unoriginal or not worth the effort. Jeeze, people just like to trash something when they don't like it and go way to far with the criticism just so they can sound important or credible. Grow up people!

And speaking the effort, here's my two cents on your flash specifically. I liked the mood. You did a good job displaying that. I don't see quite how this was a year's worth of work however...at least not a solid year's worth. But that's okay. I'd like to have seen some backgrounds, as others have said, that were drawn by you. But other than that. It's a decent flick. You should be proud of your work...because its yours. If you weren't proud of it, or take people's opinions to heart...then that should just drive you to make something better by your own standards...I'm done.

Long time viewer...first time---screw it. I like yer style man. Not sure who the last guy Nick thinks he is but he should just watch and enjoy. Dude, don't overanaylze everything in your life! This isn't anime. Anyhow, great job and love the effort you put into the details of the work. Thanks.

I don't think so, i don't like the idea of constantly remaking the same thing over and over again, things are only new the first time around.

you get...

a 7/10. I can see the work you've put into it and the care you took to even the subtle stuff like little hairs when the animals got crushed. However, I think your boy character resembles Calvin and Hobbes too much and the music didn't fit the actions/mood well enough either. Music can make or break a great cartoon in my opinion. Overall, good job...just fine tune those points and it could be great.

Your animation was well thought out but not executed as well as it could have been. The pace was lacking and the ending seriously put me off. Leave the santa and jesus out of it and make something that fits the rest of the film. Being a christmas submission, this needs to tie into that more. Overall...decent.
